New Travel Offers….

The Renaissance Las Vegas hotel is offering a Savvy Escape package this year. Book a two-night minimum reservation at the Renaissance and you’ll receive a $100 “Savvy Savings Certificate,” good for use toward a future stay.

Advertised rates start at $109 per night, but I was unable to find that low rate when testing summer travel prices. Rates for July weekends start at $149. However, this promotion still turns out to be a good deal, as standard rates came in at $139 for the same travel dates. With the promotion, you’re essentially paying an additional $20 to save $100 later (or getting $80 off a future stay).
The Ayres Inn Orange in Orange, California, has a Disney Stay & Play package for those wanting to visit Disneyland this year. The package includes accommodations, breakfast each day, free parking, complimentary shuttle service to Disneyland, and either a three- or four-day Park Hopper Pass per person, depending on whether you’re booking a three- or four-night stay. Three-night packages cost $627 (or $209 per night) and four-night packages are available for $768 ($192 per night).

Both of these packages will save you money, although you’ll get the most per-night savings with the four-night option. When I priced à la carte costs, I found the three-night total came to $645 (the package saves you $18) and $794 for the four-night (get $26 savings with the package). If you’re planning on visiting Disneyland soon, this promotion is worth considering.

This promotion is offered through December 31. For reservations, call 407-913-8345 reference the “Disney Stay & Play Package” and request either a three- or four-night stay. Other packages are also available.

At Sea

I’m always looking for interesting travel deals as well as information about traveling and its history, today I came across both and I would like to share it with you.

The reason I name this entry ” At Sea”. is because they are both related to traveling
by sea.

Did you know, that Samuel Cunard founded of the British and North American Steam Packer Company (the Cunard Line today) was looking for a way to carry mail to the United States and Canada and that was the reason he purchased a ship in 1839?

Only a year later, he launched history’s first regularly scheduled transatlantic passenger operations with four ships that sailed the Atlantic in 14 days at 8.5 knots, departing weekly from Liverpool. The first of these, the 1,154 ton paddle steamer Britannian, was small enough to fit inside the Grand Lounge of the famed Queen Elizabeth 2.

In 1895, Holland America Line offered its first vacation cruise from Rotterdam to Copenhagen and back on the Rotterdam II; fifteen years later, its second leisure cruise took passengers from New York to the Mediterranean and the Holy Land aboard the Statendam I.

The British based P&O Cruises was founded in 1838, making it the world’s oldest cruise company and only one year older than Cunard. In 1934, White Star Line(of Titanic fame) and Cunard, both of which were also British, were merged. Today are owned by “Carnival Corporation”.

And talking about new cruise lines and different type of cruises; Celebrity/Royal Caribbean Lines have created a new kind of cruising and it is call “AZAMARA CRUISES”.

Azamara Cruises travel the hidden corners of the world for those who desire to immerse themselves in the rich details of the voyage. Every moment represents a rich array of finely crafted details and graceful amenities-butler service in all staterooms, small-scale immersive excursions, enriching offerings such as culinary and photographic explorations, customized stateroom experiences, and culinary encounters inspired by the world’s most renowned chefs, delivered with a passionate commitment to service.
